People block road at Kullian over power failure

JAMMU, Aug 20: People of Kullian and Simbal Camp today took to streets and blocked road at Kullian for about one hour due to failure of power in the whole area comprising eight to nine villages since 4 am this morning.
Hundreds of villages including youth, children and aged assembled at Kullian on RS Pura Road and blocked the road for about one hour, disrupting vehicular traffic on both sides of the road.
The villagers were raising slogans against the Power Development Department demanding immediate restoration of power supply in all the villages by restoring the main transformer of the Power House, which collapsed about 4 am this morning.
The protestors warned the concerned authorities of a strong protest demonstration if it fails to take immediate action in restoring the power supply in the area. He also appealed the concerned Minister to intervene personally in the matter.
Later, SHO, Police Station Miran Sahib, Sanjeev Chib, along with Incharge, Police Post, Kullian and Teshildar RS Pura reached the spot on whose assurances, the protestors dispersed.
Meanwhile, a case FIR NO 104 u/s 341, 147 RPC has been registered at concerned police station against unidentified protestors.
