JD(U) joins social media campaign
PATNA: The JD(U) has finally realized the importance and social media power. Taking a leaf out of the BJP and Narendra Modi and their success in reaching out to the masses through Facebook and Twitter on regular basis, the JD(U) has also formed a team of its social media handlers to promote official statements of the party as well as of its leaders.

The party leaders feel the BJP succeeded in attracting people, mostly the youths, through social media before the Lok Sabha polls and it helped the saffron party and its leader attain the centre stage in politics across the country. JD(U)’s top leader Nitish Kumar had also hit Facebook almost a year ago expressing his views on it regularly. During the Lok Sabha elections, too, he posted his opinions attacking the BJP and Modi. BJP leader and former deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi is quite regular on both Facebook and Twitter and posts his comments mainly targeted against Nitish almost every day.
The party’s Twitter handler @BiharJDU is almost the same as its Facebook account. Its profile photo contains a picture of Nitish Kumar and a quote: Brand Bihar is the idea of building a state where the best ideas in society thrive and show the way to the country.
Water resources development (WRD) minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, who posted his views on the websites said, “BJP and some of its leaders have made social media their tool and we realized that we can counter their designs and false propaganda through the same. We will also try to propagate and disseminate the positive sides of the works done by the state government.” He said since millions of people are connected with social media and Biharis, especially young and educated class, are also well versed in using social media, it is the best medium to reach them.
State JD(U) chief Bashistha Narain Singh, in his inaugural post, made a blistering attack on new BJP team headed by Amit Shah which also includes former Karnataka CM B S Yediyurappa. In his post, he said, “BJP is teasing India as Amit Shah and Yediyurappa team is the most condemnable model of communal and corrupt leadership. This team is telling the people that BJP will grab the power in the states with the help of communalism and corruption. The team members are the people who have absolutely no interest in taking all sections of the society along. They have a record in politics of vengeance and violation of women’s rights. Shah should see his and team members’ faces in the mirror.”
Chaudhary, in his post, alleged that Shah had been accused in a serious charge of Snoopgate and the party’s top leadership had been in the dock. “Bihar BJP leaders are croaking like monsoon frogs. This shows their agony to lose power and desperation to get it back by hook or by crook.
