Three persons were shot dead while one other sustained bullet injuries in a brazen attack in Babhna village in Nawabganj police area of Farrukhabad district on Wednesday morning. The police termed it as an outcome of a murder of a former Zila Panchayat member Kunwar Pal Singh Yadav, a resident of Lauli village under the Merapur police station, who was shot dead in Babhna village of the district on July 11.
Police said four persons -- Munne Khan, Shyamveer Singh, Amruddin and Bahar Singh -- were chased by people from a rival group who were riding on two-wheelers in the morning on Wednesday.
“Munne Khan, Shyamveer Singh and Bahar Singh were sitting at the chaupal of one Awdhesh in the Babhna village when the rival group armed with rifles and country-made weapons chased and opened fire at them in which Munne Khan and Shyamveer Singh were killed on the spot while Amruddin and Bahar Singh were injured. Later, Amruddin succumbed to injuries on way to hospital. The condition of Bahar Singh, who is undergoing treatment at Ram Manohar Lohia hospital, is stated to be critical by the doctors,” a senior police officer said.
Police stated that both the groups were from the district and had an enmity over the murder of former zila panchayat member Kunwar Pal Singh Yadav, who was allegedly shot dead on July 11 following a dispute between one Shiv Pal Singh and Rishabh over a piece of land in the village.
“Knowing that Kunwar Pal Singh was murdered by Shiv Pal Singh alias Bhoore and his two sons Ankit and and Atul hailing from Babhna village, their rivals were after them,” an investigating official said.
Soon after the incident, the police barricaded all routes to Farrukhabad and started checking of vehicles. "We have identified the assailants and will nail them soon," SP Kripashanker said.
Nawabganj SHO said someone informed him about the incident over the telephone. "We were informed that nearly nine unidentified men came at the chaupal of one Awdhesh in Babhna village on three motorcycles and started firing on a group of people. We have recovered a few cartridges, possibly fired from rifles, from the spot,” he added.

Tension gripped Babhna village on Wednesday morning following the triple murder. No arrest has been made yet in this connection while heavy police force was deployed at the village to avoid recurrence of any untoward incident.
Agitated villagers refused to hand over the bodies of the deceased to cops for post-mortem examination. The SSP along with additional police forces reached the spot and pacified the crowd, assuring them of speedy arrests in the case.
Later, the bodies were sent for autopsy and an FIR has been registered at Nawabganj police station.
Babhna villagers, where triple murder took place, alleged that PAC personnel assigned to guard the village after the murder of Zila Panchayat member Kunwar Pal Singh Yadav on July 11, had been withdrawn from the village recently on August 15.
Taking advantage of the development, they alleged, nine motorbike-borne armed men came to their village on Wednesday and opened indisriminate fire on unarmed men.
