Ice bucket is on fire

It’s a chain of nominations as several stars take up the stunt for charity
Hyderabad: The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has now officially arrived in India. Actress Hansika Motwani on Wednesday, became the first Tollywood celebrity to take up the charity cause and she, well, has nominated all her fans, and a few friends and family.
“Thank you to everyone for challenging me to do the #icebucketchallenge to raise awareness for ALS. I nominate Sahil Nandu, Prashant Motwani, Tanvi Shah and Tejal Patel for the challenge,” the actress wrote on Instagram.
“Yes, Hansika has become the first South star to take up the challenge and she did donate a large sum of money for the cause and we really hope it helps ALS,” said the star’s mother Mona Motwani, a dermatologist.
The ALS Ice Bucket originated in the United States this summer to highlight the plight of those affected by Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also referred to Lou Gehrig’s disease. If participants opt out of the nomination chain, they’ll have to pay $100 dollars to the ALS
foundation.
Hansika was joined by a bevy of other stars, including Riteish Deshmukh, Bipasha Basu, Abhishek Bachchan and Sonakshi Sinha, who may have to take the challenge once again as there was just a cube of ice dropping from the bucket. And, Hyderabad too has caught the cold fever big time!
A day after Sania Mirza, badminton champ Jwala Gutta took up the challenge. She was nominated by Ashwini Ponnappa and Gutta in turn, nominated actors Harshvardan Rane, Nithiin and Ujjwal Bhalla. The Ice Bucket challenge has spread to at least 10 countries and high-profile participants include Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates.
