Assam University professor suspended

SILCHAR: Silchar authorities on Tuesday suspended Teenapalli Hari, associate professor in the department of political science of the central university from his service.
AU executive council in its meeting held during the day decided the fate of Hari, who is accused of barring the first semester students from singing songs of Rabindranath Tagore in Bengali during a freshers’ social function in the institution on August 14, a senior AU offcial said on Tuesday.
Different social bodies and people in general protested against Hari's remarks against Tagore songs and demanded actions against the associate professor of the department of political scaience over past few days.
