Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta announces admission criteria for PGP and PGDM courses

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta finally announced admissions for the 2015-17 batch of the Postgraduate Programme in Management and Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGP & PGDM). The Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIMC) was established as the first national institute for post-graduate studies and research in management by the government of India in November 1961 in collaboration with Alfred P. Sloan School of Management (MIT), the government of West Bengal, the Ford Foundation and Indian industry.

Over the past four decades, IIM Calcutta has blossomed into one of Asia's finest business schools. Its strong ties to the business community makes it an effective tool to promote professional management practices in Indian organisations. There is a two-step process, which is used for short-listing the candidates.

The candidates have to face a personal interview and a written ability test (WAT) and the final submission would be on the basis of the cumulative scores obtained in the several parameters assigned by the B-School. Compared to last year, the CAT cutoff percentile has reduced. The CAT 2013 cutoff for general category was 95 percentile and above. For CAT 2014, the overall cutoff for general category is 90 percentile and above. However, the rest of the criteria are similar to last year.

As per the B-School, "The final selection list will be based on the merit list generated as per the mentioned weightage assigned in each category. Minimum qualification in accordance with the above mentioned criteria would not automatically help a candidate qualify for admission into IIM Calcutta."
