MANGALORE: Sakharayapattana in Kadur taluk of Chikmagalur district recorded maximum rainfall of 120mm in Karnataka in the last 24 hours up to 8.30am on August 20. Sedam hobli in Sedam taluk of Gulbarga district recorded maximum temperature of 37.7°C on August 19 at 4.15pm. Napoklu hobli in Madikeri taluk of Bagalkote district recorded lowest minimum temperature of 17.3°C on August 20 at 5.30am.
The maximum temperature rose at many places over Malnad region and at few places over interior Karnataka and changed little over remaining parts of the state. The minimum temperature changed little over the state.
More than 90% relative humidity has been recorded in 62% geographical area in the state. Less than 25% of relative humidity has been recorded in 0% geographical area in the state. Rainfall over the state is considered as fairly widespread since 62% of hoblis and gram panchayats recorded rainfall of 2.5mm. Heavy rain was recorded in 36 gram panchayats, rather heavy rain in 110 GPs; moderate rain in 511 GPs; light rain in 380 GPs; very light rain in 325GPs; and no rain in rest 494 GPs.
Karnataka for the period from August 14 to August 20 recorded deficit rainfall of 30%. Against normal weighted average rainfall of 48.4mm in south-interior, north-interior, Malnad and coastal parts, state recorded rainfall of 34mm. For 24-hour period ending 8.30am on August 20, four geographical regions received 10.8mm actual weighted average rainfall against normal weighted average rainfall of 6.1mm, a 78% surplus departure from normal.
