Issue public notice against Ranjna Baghel: Madhya Pradesh high court asks assembly
INDORE: Madhya Pradesh high court on Tuesday directed secretary of state assembly to issue a public notice through newspapers against former minister and BJP leader from Manawar, Ranjna Baghel asking her to appear before the court. High court took a serious exception over Baghel repeatedly ignoring summons of the court with regard to an election petition against her.
Govind Sirvi, a resident of Manawar, filed an election petition against Baghel alleging she indulged in corrupt practices during November 2013 assembly elections on which HC had issued eight notices since February 2014.
All notices returned unanswered. Court had even send lawyers to hand over notice to Baghel in person but she allegedly refused to accept it.
Counsel for petitioner Manish Yadav said, Baghel indulged in corrupt practices and distributed money during elections. "A day before election on November 24, 2013 Baghel was caught on camera distributing money. The photograph appeared in newspapers and on the day of election Baghel was again captured in a video distributing money. Baghel broke the camera and beat up the person who recorded the event and a case was registered against MLA," said Yadav.
Petitioner alleged election officer of Manawar was a rakhi brother of Baghel and he favoured the former minister. "We have also attached photograph of Baghel and election officer in which she is tying rakhi to him," said Yadav. Next date of hearing is schedule for September 24.
