Confirming the news to us, Kushan says, “Yes, both Prosenjit Chatterjee and Nawazuddin are part of my film.Prosenjit, who has long been hailed as the romantic idol from Bengal, will be seen in a completely new avatar in this movie. He has shades of grey and the role is bound to hit the audience in its face.Though he has reinvented himself on screen with films like Jaatishwar, this is a completely different role."
While it's still not clear if he will be seen in the role of a politician, Roopa Ganguly , say sources, will play one. The actress, who is expected to play a foulmouthed politician, is excited about her forthcom ing national project after Anurag Basu's Barfi!. “I love the way my character has been etched out. It's a dream role and I'm looking forward to the shoot," says Roopa.
Kushan, who hasn't seen many of Roopa's films, is aware of the actress' potential. “She is a powerhouse performer,“ he says. Though Kushan is tightlipped about Chitrangda's role in the movie, he says Nawazuddin will be seen as a contract killer in the movie. “The film is about the life of a contract killer, Nawaz will be seen in a new light. It's a stylized role, not something Nawaz has done before,“ says Kushan. The director, who hasn't finalized the entire cast, however, is in talks with theatre actors from Bengal for other key roles. So, does he himself watch Bengali films? “I have grown up on Ritwik Ghatak, Satyajit Ray and Mrinal Sen's movies. I have also watched many of Rituparno Ghosh's films, though I am not very well acquainted with the new wave in Bengali cinema. I have seen a few like Jaatishwar,“ he says. Though shooting will be held in Bengal, Kushan is not ready to explore the stock locations. “I'll be shooting in towns and villages around Purulia, Birbum and Burdwan," he says.
