Sudeshna Roy and Abhijit Guha had to convince themselves first before casting Parambrata Chatterjee as Haru in Hercules. “Param is suave and cerebral, while Haru is just the opposite — a spineless man who is weak and dumb. So, when we approached him for the film, he just loved it, but said only a mad director duo like us could cast him in Haru’s role. I still remember Rana (Abhijit) told me on the first day of the shoot: ‘Param looks so confident.
Will he be able to pull off Haru, whose confidence level is zero?’ But after the first shot, we were sure that only Param could have done that role. Haru’s mannerism is inspired by three assistants in my team, and Param added spice to
it to make it more believable,” said the director. The film is about how Haru resists pressure from all sides to sell off his ancestral house and whether he succeeds in the end. “Haru loses a battle to win a war and there lies his heroism,” said Sudeshna with a smile, adding, “Paoli who plays Minu, Haru’s love interest, is a pleasure to work with, as she is one of the most accommodative actresses I have come across till date. And the chemistry between the two is beautiful.”
