SURAT: Diamantaires in the world’s biggest diamond cutting and polishing centre in Surat and other centres across the state have hailed the appointment of Surat Diamond Association (SDA) president, Dinesh Navadiya as the Gujarat regional chairman of Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) by the office of the Additional Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), ministry of commerce and industry, for the year 2014-2016.

DGFT had called for nominations for the election to the Committee of Administration (CoA) of GJEPC against vacancies arising for the year 2014-16 for post of regional chairmans and other office-bearers in the important gems and jewellery centres across the country.
DGFT had received two nominations for the post of Gujarat regional chairman of GJEPC from Surat and Dinesh Navadiya was elected.
Navadiya took over the post from Chandrakant Sanghavi, who is the longest serving Gujarat regional chairman of GJEPC from the past many years.
“I am happy that the diamond trade in Gujarat, especially in Surat, have put faith in me and elected me as the regional chairman. My priority is to establish a coveted place for Surat and Gujarat in the apex body and represent the issues and problems of the diamantaires, workers and the traders” said Navadiya.
