The Jammu and Kashmir Police has constituted a committee to probe whether Special Police Officer (SPO) Mohammad Shafi Dar has rejoined a militant group after he went missing with his service rifle during active duty in Sopore last Thursday.
Dar, a resident of North Kashmir’s Sopore, was working with the J-K police’s Special Operation Group (SOG) and was asked to report to the District police lines in Sopore from Seelu village where he was posted.
“During our investigations, we have come to know that the cop has joined a militant outfit,” a senior police
official told The Indian Express. “It couldn’t be confirmed which outfit he has joined.”
IGP Kashmir A G Mir said “the SPO is yet to report to the duties and we are investigating the matter.” He said the police are also probing Dar’s relationship with a girl.
