TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The new signings of Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas made an instant impact for Chelsea, as they launched their Premier League title bid with a confident 3-1 win at promoted Burnley on Monday.
Chelsea managed to take the lead with a 14th minute goal through a kick from Scott Artfield after a receiving a pass from Matt Taylor, Reuters reported.
Three minutes later, Brazilian-born Spain international Costa, a close season signing from Atletico Madrid, brought the Londoners level on his Premier League debut, firing in after a Branislav Ivanovic cross-shot, had bounced off the post.
Four minutes later, Mourinho’s squad had the lead - Fabregas providing a beautiful pass to German World Cup winner Andre Schurrle who confidently scored a goal.
Burnley looked surprised and their manager Sean Dyche will be disappointed with the his team’s defence, when Chelsea scored their third goal when Ivanovic slotted in a Fabregas corner in the 34th minute.
