All eyes on Modi’s visit to Haryana

Prior to Modi’s arrival, Amit Shah has already taken two rounds of the state, addressing rallies at Mahendergarh and Jind.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit poll-bound Haryana on Tuesday. He is scheduled to attend an official event to inaugurate the four-laning of the Kaithal-Rajasthan border section of National Highway 52/65, yet political parties are curious about his visit.

During his last visit to Haryana, Modi has attacked the ruling Congress government while campaigning for the BJP. He had been in charge of Haryana affairs as party general secretary and had strong ties with some state leaders, who are now looking to him for their future.

Prior to Modi’s arrival, BJP president Amit Shah has already taken two rounds of the state, addressing rallies at Mahendergarh and Jind. At Jind, Congress veteran and Rajya Sabha MP Birender Singh joined the party.

BJP’s alliance partner is keenly watching the developments as the future of the alliance is not certain. HJC chief Kuldeep Bishnoi, who has been left out of the list of invitees, said he would see to it that his party has a say in the future of the alliance as he has been constantly ignored by the BJP. Bishnoi was not called to both the Shah rallies. The BJP president remained quiet on the alliance at Jind while at Mahendergarth he said that alliance or no alliance, the BJP would contest all 90 seats.

The BJP is hopeful that Modi’s visit will further boost the already buoyed party. The BJP won seven out of eight Lok Sabha seats it had contested in the state. It seems likely that the BJP will snap ties with the HJC .
