Udita Goswami: I feel blessed to have such a caring husband

Udita Goswami, who got married to filmmaker Mohit Suri last year, is expecting her first baby.
She and her husband just got back from a short holiday in London and the US, and she says that she loves the way her husband has been pampering her. Udita tells us, “Mohit is more excited than I am and has become more responsible than before. He is going out of his way to take care of me.I feel very blessed to have such a loving, affectionate and caring husband. I’m just four months pregnant, and Mohit does not allow me to do anything alone.” She adds, “Mujhe toh pata hi nahi chala ki main pregnant hoon. I had been travelling for a month, and it’s only when I came back to Mumbai that I realised I was expecting.”
Udita, who started her modelling career when she was quite young, says, “I was offered my first fashion show when I was in Class IX. My mother would take me for the rehearsals. The fashion show was the turning point in my life; I became confident after doing the show and later I enrolled in the School of Arts and Fashion technology (SAF) in Dehradun.”

She fondly recalls her carefree days as a school kid in a small city and says, “I was never a studious person. But yes, I was active in sports and represented and won a lot of medals for my school in javelin, basketball and shot put. I have been a district-level player and represented my school at various tournaments. Every day my routine would be to wake up early in the morning and go for basketball practice. Then I’d go cycling, and later walk down to my school. Woh lifestyle hi alag tha – no noise pollution no air pollution, sab kuch itna clean tha. I still miss the smell of fresh flowers that grew in the garden of our house in Dehradun, the sound of birds chirping in the morning near my window, long drives every Sunday with my friends and brother to Mussourie, and eating garma-garam momos.”
Sharing her memories of Dehradun, where she lived for six years, Udita says, “I was only 10 years old when our family shifted to Doon. I think Doon is one of the best places, where you have some of the best schools, beautiful valleys and scenic beauty. I wouldn’t term Doon a small town, like other places in India, because it is culturally rich, with natural beauty and also has a contemporary outlook.”
