INDORE: The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has issued show cause notice to 10 M.Ed colleges of Madhya Pradesh including two affiliated from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) why should they not be de-recognised.
The council has issued notice to colleges following the MP high court order dated May 13 that gave liberty to the NCTE to proceed afresh in accordance with the law.
The court had earlier quashed NCTE order to derecognise several MEd colleges when around 30 of them from the state moved court. The court had then quashed the NCTE’s order stating that the due process for de-recognising institutions was not followed giving liberty to NCTE to proceed afresh against the petitioners after granting them an opportunity of hearing.
The NCTE had last year cancelled recognition of many M.Ed colleges in the State stating that they failed to obtain accreditation certificate from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council within the given time frame.
Following the NCTE’s decision, the universities in the State had denied affiliation to the derecognised colleges and also exams for their students. The NCTE had made NAAC accreditation mandatory for colleges running MEd courses in 2009 and directed them to obtain the accreditation certificate by April 1, 2012.
