Mass. gas prices drop 3 cents a gallon

The average price for gas in Massachusetts was $3.47 a gallon in the latest weekly AAA survey, down 3 cents from the previous week’s average, AAA Southern New England said Monday.

The Massachusetts average is now 15 cents lower than it was a month ago, AAA Southern New England added.

The current Massachusetts average is 2 cents higher than the latest national average of $3.45 a gallon.

A year ago at this time, the Massachusetts average 17 cents higher at $3.64.

In the current Massachusetts survey, there was a range in prices of 40 cents, from a low of $3.29 to a high of $3.69.

The weekly surveys focus on self-serve, regular unleaded gas.
