Since Sprint’s ex-CEO Dan Hesse has been replaced with Marcelo Claure, things have started to change and those looking for a new, refreshing lineup of smartphones will be pleased to know that they will get it beginning this month.

The first ever Sharp smartphone to be available in the United States will go on sale at Sprint later this month. Part of Softbank’s lineup of amazing bezel-less smartphones, Sharp Aquos Crystal has been confirmed to arrive in the US later this month.

We already know that Sprint has an important event scheduled for August 19, which is why we suspect that the carrier will announce new devices and new plans. There’s a high chance that the Sharp Aquos Crystal will be among the new products announced by Sprint tomorrow.

However, as Phonearena points out, Sharp Aquos Crystal will only be available for purchase beginning August 29, but pre-orders may start as early as tomorrow, August 19.

On the same note, HTC also has a launch event scheduled for August 19, where the company is expected to announce its next Windows Phone flagship smartphone, the HTC One W8.

Moving on to the Sharp Aquos Cystal, this is one of those smartphones that everyone not living in Japan has been drooling for. The device features an incredibly thin bezel and it’s around 10mm thick.

Keep in mind that this is not really a flagship device, which means it might be priced at a very decent amount. The smartphone is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and 1.5GB of RAM.

Sharp Aquos Crystal comes with only 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD card slot.

As expected, the handset will ship with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box, but it might receive an Android L upgrade sometime in the future.

On the back, the smartphone features a photo snapper with LED flash, but the amount of megapixels is unknown for the moment. There’s also a secondary camera that has been oddly placed at the bottom of the phone in order to remove the need for the bezel above the screen.

This means that the bezel on the bottom is a little bit larger than expected given the fact that it houses the secondary camera, the in-call speaker and other sensors.

Speaking of which, the Aquos Crystal sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution. It also offer LTE support, along with a high-capacity 2040 mAh battery and Harman Kardon sound technology inside.
