Allahabad Medical Association condemns attack on doctor

ALLAHABAD: Allahabad Medical Association on Sunday castigated the attack on Dr Bindu Vishwakarma on August 16 and demanded immediate and stern action against the perpetrators of the crime. A few anti-social elements had attacked Dr Vishwakarma at her hospital in Phaphamau on Saturday. They also demanded immediate action from the district administration in the matter.
Dr Vishwakarma had alleged that one of the miscreants as pressurizing her into undertaking free medical check up of his family and friends.She further claimed that the miscreant also demanded protection money. She claimed that the miscreant had been threatening her for long.
On Saturday, the miscreant along with his aides barged into her room, when she was examining patients and demanded money. When she expressed her inability, the latter damaged the computer and telephone before attacking her. In this connection, an FIR was lodged against anti-social elements under sections 147,384,323,504 and 427 of the IPC.
Dr Vishwakarma had also met the IG and the SSP and demanded proper security.
President of AMA Dr VK Mishra stressed on a fear free atmosphere for doctors so that they can treat patients properly.
