Tourism staff seek probe into irregularities

August 17, 2014 11:40 pm | Updated 11:40 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation on Sunday has demanded a thorough enquiry into the alleged financial irregularities in the Corporation. On Sunday, JAC members alleged that the Tourism Corporation was misusing the Central government funds, have not fully released the Interim Relief (IR) and dearness allowance for employees this year.

The JAC also criticised the way the management of the Tourism Corporation was appointing ‘consultants’ on hefty pay packets along with ‘perks’, which is demoralising other staff. The employees, while interacting with press persons on Sunday, demanded a high level enquiry into the way the funds were being managed by the Tourism Corporations in TS and AP.

“The IR was announced in January of this year, but we were given only from April. The management is yet to release the revised DA amount from this January. We also object to the misuse of funds by employing consultants at exorbitant salaries,” said V. Janardhan and L. Durga Prasad from TS and AP respectively.

APTDC Officers’ Association general secretary V. Jayadev said that already JAC members have met top officials in Telangana and AP and have demanded enquiry into the way the Central government funds were being handled by the Tourism Development Corporation in both the States.
