Minister for Food and Civil Supplies and Legal Metrology Paritala Sunita has instructed the officials to complete linkage of Aadhaar numbers with bank accounts of beneficiaries by August 25, in view of the importance attached by the government to it in implementing various welfare schemes.

At a review meeting here on Saturday, the Minister said that Krishna district could complete 76 per cent linkage and the balance had to be finished before the given date.

Reiterating that Aadhaar-bank account linkage was compulsory for every welfare scheme undertaken the government, she said special focus had to be laid on identifying the people from poor socio-economic background and providing them with Aadhaar cards.

The Minister maintained that special arrangements, if necessary, would be made to take the beneficiaries to the Aadhaar enrolment centres. The administrations those have achieved cent per cent Aadhaar enrolment would be given awards in recognition of their efforts, the Minister said.

Steps have to be taken to curb the usage of kerosene sold under Public Distribution System (PDS) in operation of boats, she warned.

NTR canteens would be set up in Vijayawada, Guntur, Anantapur and Chittoor to provide subsidised food to the needy, she said. Joint Collector J. Murali, Sub-Collector D. Harichandana, Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan and others were also present.
