The Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh — K. Chandrasekhar Rao and N. Chandrababu Naidu — have decided to bury the hatchet and work to resolve the contentious issues between the two States.

At a meeting arranged by Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan in an attempt to end the frequent clashes between the two State governments, the two Chief Ministers decided to sort out their differences amicably rather than trading allegations.

Later, both the Chief Ministers held separate press conferences and described their talks as the first step in the right direction. While Sunday’s deliberations made headway in distribution of State-level officers, both the Chief Ministers made it abundantly clear that they would meet from time to time to resolve other issues, including power and water sharing.

The past two months have seen bitter exchanges between the two nascent State governments on issues such as fee reimbursement and cancellation of power purchase agreements.
