Which comes first: Flag or phone?

Pammal municipal chairman was speaking on phone when hoisting the tricolour
Chennai: A flag hoisting function at suburban Pammal on Friday provoked the ire of local residents as Pammal municipal chairman C. V. Ilango was caught on camera, speaking on his phone when hoisting the tricolour.
According to sources the Mr. Ilango was on a phone call during the flag hoisting ceremony, leaving the staff and students of the government elementary school discomfited.
“Being the local civic chief, he was asked to hoist the national flag at the nearby government school, which he did after hoisting the tricolour at the municipal office, but his behaviour was disgusting and he hardly showed any respect for the national flag,” said a civic staff member. Meanwhile, local politicians circulated the controversial photos among the villagers through Whatsapp.
Mr Ilango denied the allegations. “Why would I do such an act? I was asked to hoist the flag, but I requested the school headmaster to hoist it as I was attending an important official call. I was just helping him to handle the rope, connecting the flag,” he said.
