For Priyanshu Chatterjee, lead actor of Tum Bin fame, life in Bollywood has been a steady one, as he is not only choosy about his films but also believes in doing meaningful roles.
Having made his debut in 2001 in the Hindi film industry with Tum Bin , he is about 25 films old.
The actor from Delhi starred in a few Hindi and Bengali films, which were critically acclaimed such as Chandra Prakash Dwivedi’s Pinjar (National Film Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration), Moner Manush (the Bengali movie won the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration at 58th National Film Award), and the highly acclaimed Bengali film Iti Mrinalini .
And that is fairly a good track record for a person who has discontinued his Chartered Accountancy course in Delhi to get a foothold in the highly competitive Bollywood market, that too without a mentor. Priyanshu is here to shoot for the Bengali Film Troyee , directed by Raj Mukherjee and co-starred by Rituparna Sengupta.
‘Bangla cinema is my passion’On his balancing between Hindi and Bengali films, he said, “Hindi film is my professional arena. My mother tongue being Bengali, ‘Bangla cinema’ is my passion.”
“I am open to any language film, but the script and the storyline has to be good. I have also done a Punjabi film Sirphire with Monica Bedi,” he added.
The actor also points out that he is open to any kind of role, but again the script is the deciding factor.
Recently, he played the role of an antagonist in the murder-thriller Samrat and Co . On his upcoming projects, he said that he was working on a film titled Barkha , directed by Shadab Mirza and co-starring Pakistani model and actor Sarah Loren.
Talking about Visakhapatnam, the actor said that he was floored by the beauty of the city.
“It is a god-blessed city and it is rare to have both hills and the sea at one place,” he said.
