Monster Tour Tickets At MetLife Stadium 13% More Expensive Than Comerica Park

This article is more than 9 years old.

After kicking off the Monster tour last weekend at the Rose Bowl, Eminem and Rihanna will be taking their co-headlining show to MetLife Stadium this weekend. At the Rose Bowl, the duo exceeded expectations with a setlist of over 50 songs, spanning both artists’ successful careers. There are only four dates remaining for the Monster tour and this weekend Rihanna and Eminem tickets will be the most expensive of the six total shows on the secondary market.

While neither of the concerts at the Rose Bowl had crowds at full capacity, Saturday night’s show at MetLife Stadium is sold out. It is not, however, the most expensive date of the two on the secondary market. Saturday night’s concert has an average price of $178, the cheapest average price for the four remaining dates. The get-in price of $55 is the second least expensive remaining price.

Sunday night’s show at MetLife is the most expensive of the four with an average price of $210. It also has a higher get-in price of $68. Despite the high average price, there are still many tickets available on the primary market, including floor seats for $282. The average price pales in comparison to Jay-Z and Beyonce’s stop in New Jersey during On The Run. Their July 11 and 12 concerts combined for an average price of $281. Last week, One Direction also played two concerts at MetLife Stadium with expensive prices on the secondary market. One Direction tickets had a combined average price of $233 on August 4 and 5.

While the concerts aren’t more expensive than other major tours at the same venue, Monster tour tickets at MetLife are 13.2% above the combined average price of the two nights at Comerica Park. The duo will play the Detroit ballpark next Friday and Saturday and both concerts are sold out. Friday night is the most expensive of the two with an average price of $188, but the cheaper get-in price of $48. Saturday night has an average price of $183, but a get-in price of $74. Comerica has a significantly lower seating capacity than the other two stadiums on the tour. However, with both nights sold out and in Eminem’s home town of Detroit, it is surprising the secondary market demand is not significantly higher than the other two stops.

Still, the limited amount of shows has allowed Monster to have a higher average price than the other big ongoing collaborative tour. The least expensive concert for Eminem and Rihanna is still 7.8% above the tour average for Drake vs Lil Wayne tickets. The average prices have a wide range across the remaining dates to see two of the biggest names in hip hop. Prices range from an average of $240 on August 25 at the Xfinity Center to $100 at the First Niagara Pavillion on August 17. The overall tour average on the secondary market is $163.

It’s likely Eminem and Rihanna would have been able exceed that average had their collaboration lasted longer than six shows and three cities. While fans can still dream about a full length tour, the chances to see Eminem and Rihanna are running out. However, ticket prices for a collaboration this grand are not nearly as expensive as one would have first imagined.
