VADODARA: Suspected Chandipura virus claimed one more life in Godhra town on Wednesday. Two-year-old Bharat Nayak was being shifted to SSG hospital for treatment of critical viral encephalitis when he died enroute.
The death toll due to viral encephalitis in central Gujarat has reached 19, of which five were tested positive for Chandipura virus. Six blood samples have been tested negative and eight results are still awaited.
Two other patients from Panchmahal Arti Solanki (8) and Divyesh Patel (4) were admitted to SSG hospital with critical viral encephalitis on Wednesday. Shilpa Tarve (2) from Chhota Udepur was also admitted to SSG hospital with suspected Chandipura infection on Thursday.
