More than 200 held in swoop on PTI, PAT workers

The police launched a vigorous crackdown on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek activists and arrested more than 200 activists from different parts.
According to details, in Ahmedpur East, the police arrested two Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf activists - Sajid Siraj Jalwana and Naqash Ali here in the city while three other workers namely - Mohsin Malik, Shehzad Suhail and Kamral Sial were rounded up from Uch Sharif town.
According to reports, all activists except advocate Sajid Siraj Jalwana have been shifted to new central jail Bahawalpur while Mr Jalwani was released from City Police station later. A spokesman for the PTI told the media that more than 50 party activists had reached Lahore under the leadership of PTI Tehsil President Abdul Basit Shikrani and district vice president Munir Ahmed Malik.
In Toba Tek Singh, crackdown continued to restrain PTI activists from going to Lahore and Islamabad and the district police have arrested 16 PTI activists from across the district so far. The arrested workers included from Kamalia Ghulam Ali Rehmani, Imran Bhatti, Malik Qaiser Naveed and Rana Ghulam Mustafa; from Rajana Zahid Khan, Naseer Ahmad, Muhammad Imran, Hukmran Akhroti, Anwar Baboo, Muhammad Boota and Mujahid Rafiq and from Pirmahal Nadeem Asghar, Muhammad Subhan, Naeem Iqbal and Abid Ali.
In Gujranwala, the police crackdown to arrest Pakistan Tehrik-e-Inssaf and PAT workers continued. As result of raids about 200 supporters of Tehrik-e-Insaaf and PAT were arrested from different places of the city. The crackdown was launched to stop the workers from participating in the “Azadi” and “Inqilab” marches. It has been learnt that about 4000 policemen have been sent from Gujranwala region to Islamabad. The district administration and police have also completed arrangements to control the law and order situation and police forces deployed at all important points, especially on GT Road to maintain order.
Meanwhile in Attock, thousand of PTI activists coming from Kohat, Peshawar and other adjoining areas of KPK crossed Khushalgarh and Attock bridges peacefully without any hindrance by the law enforcement agencies. The Azadi march procession was led by MPA Ziaullah Bangash, Muhammad Amin Gandapur and Ali Amin Gandapur. The PTI activists on board different vehicles were shouting slogans and waving national and party flags. The procession from KPK will join the main procession of Azadi march in Islamabad. The participants seemed enthusiastic and were confident that the march led by Imran Khan would bring a real change and true independence.
