Bengaluru: Vibgyor, Marathahalli, which was under pressure for not taking action against school principal Mr. Alistair La Porte over the sexual assault on a first standard student, has now appointed a new principal for the school. But parents are upset that instead of acting against the former principal Mr. La Porte, he has been has been given the post of ‘academic adviser’ to the school.
According to an internal mail sent to all the parents of the school by the chairman Rustam Kerawalla, it has been stated that Mr. Roshan D'Souza will be the new school principal. He was the principal at Vibgyor High, Hyderabad, for the last two years.
According to the email, Mr. La Porte will continue as an advisor to the Vibgyor Marathalli school. Speaking to this newspaper, many parents alleged that even though police investigation has proved that sexual assault was committed inside the school, the principal has been let off the hook.
‘‘There was no post called academic advisor till now at Vibgyor, Marathalli. Unfortunately, this new post has been created only to rescue Mr. La Porte, who is under fire from parents, police and children. We want the school management to clarify why his services are being continued. If not, we will restart our agitation,’’ warned a parent.
