EPR of Underground Authority recently released his latest single, Inside out, featuring Prechya Bajracharya from Nepal.
The single, which is a collaboration between EPR and Pari, as Prechya is popularly known in Nepal, is a socio-political number dealing with social issues bugging India and the Indian sub-continent. EPR, who came in contact with Pari through Facebook, also roped in Bdoteatz from the US as the producer of the track.

The entire project was put together online, with Pari and EPR recording their individual parts in Nepal and Kolkata respectively. “It’s a non-profit project that I took up because as I wanted to do my bit for the country ahead of Independence Day,” said EPR.
The issues that the song talks about range from illegal immigration to safety of women, draining of the country’s resources to the Ghaza-Israel conflict. But why, to project the issues bugging the country, did he zero in on someone from Nepal, instead of someone from India itself? Says EPR, “It’s people who make up a country and social issues bugging us are not limited to just our country. India being a huge part of the subcontinent, affects each of these countries such as Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh. And I feel, when it comes to protesting against the ills of the society as a whole, the nationality of the singer or performer becomes irrelevant. The Gaza-Israel conflict is not only affecting the people of the Gaza strip but people the world over. The way women’s safety has been undermined in this country has been making headlines the world over. It’s not just about India, but the world as a whole.”
The musician has experimented with new-school electronic beats in the song, which also boats of Japanese and Chinese influences. “I have tried to introduce a lot of sub-continental influence in the song, but it is basically a hip hop track that the youth should easily relate to,” he added.
EPR and Pari are also planning to come up with a video to accompany the single next month when Underground Authority’s debut album is also due.
