As 15 August approaches, the whole nation will start hearing the classic patriotic songs on radio, television and, of course, on road while passing any school.

Independence Day is incomplete without all-time classics like 'Vande Mataram', 'Aye Mere Watan Ke Logo', 'Suno Gaur Se Duniya Walo', 'Zindagi Maut Na Ban Jaye' and many more.

The songs raise the feeling of being patriotic and inspire to feel proud as an Indian. Most of them are the ones, which you have heard since childhood and some of you must have performed them at school.

Here are few of the patriotic songs, which you hear on Independence Day.

Yeh Jo Des Hai Tera 

 

'Yeh Jo Des Hai Tera' is one of the AR Rahman's soundtracks. It is from the film "Swades" starring Shah Rukh Khan. The starting Shehnai music will touch your heart and the simple words convey a strong meaning to the listeners.

Chak De India 

The film "Chak De! India" in itself was very inspiring and the title track with the same name boosts up the patriotism in you. Sukhwinder Singh's voice was the perfect choice for this song.

Vande Mataram 

'Vande Mataram' is the national song of India, which was first published in Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel 'Anandamath' (1882). Then in 1952 the film of the same name included it, which played an important role throughout the Independence movement of India. Even now Lata Mangeshkar's voice gives goosebumps when we hear the song.

Maa Tujhe Salaam

The heart-melting song, "Maa Tujhe Salaam", is sung by the legend AR Rahaman. The song is from his album "Vande Mataram". The music and the lyrics still makes you stand and salute your Indian flag.

Bharat Humko Jaan Se Pyaara hain

The music composer AR Rahman again did wonders with the song "Bharat Hum Ko Jaan Se Pyaara Hain" of the film "Roja." It is sung by Hariharan and is a beautiful song with meaningful lyrics. The line 'Bharat Hum Ko Jaan Se Pyaara Hain' means we love India more than our life.

Mere Desh Ki Dharti 

"Mere Desh Ki Dharti" is the patriotic song from the film, "Upkar" (1967), sung by Gulshan Bawra. The singer was nominated for the Best Male Playback Singer for this song.

The song is beautifully composed and has filmed Manoj Kumar, who is known for doing patriotic films.

Desh Mere Desh 

The duo AR Rahaman and Sukhwinder Singh touched the heart of every Indian with their song 'Desh Mere Desh". It is from the film "The Legend Of Bhagat Singh" (2002) and casts Ajay Devgn.

The lyrics of the song starts in a smooth way, which will make you feel proud when you listen to it.

Apni Azadi Ko Hum 

The legend voice of Mohammad Rafi has always touched the heart of his fans. "Apni Azaadi Ko Hum Hargiz Mita Sakte Nahin" is sung by him, which has mesmerised every Indian. The song is from the film, "Leader "(1964), and it conveys a strong meaning with its lyrics.

Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo

Another song by Mohammad Rafi's song 'Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo' is famous during Independence Day, especially in school functions.

The song is from the film "Haqeeqat" (1964) starred Dharmendra. It conveys the helplessness of a soldier who is dying and saying to his fellow mates to take care of the nation.

Aye Mere Pyaare Watan 

The great singer of Indian Film industry Manna Dey sung the beautiful patriotic song 'Aye Mere Pyaare Watan'. It is from the film "Kabuliwala" (1961) which is based on a story of the same name by Rabindranath Tagore.
