India was one of the most prosperous countries in the world. Sone ki chidiya was a phrase that aptly described our country at one point of time. The British first came to India to engage in trade, but gradually they started interfering with the political affairs of the country. They slowly captured areas and imposed their rule on us. Following this, they started mistreating the people of our country. But our people did not back down and fought for our rightful place. It was necessary for us to gain independence. On August 15, 1947, our efforts paid off and India became independent. We are proud of what we have achieved and that is why we celebrate it.
