Socialists: Gripens used for goverment propaganda
Hungary’s armed forces were used for government propaganda when Gripen fighters flew over the Ferencváros football stadium in Budapest as part of its opening ceremony Socialist MP Márta Demeter told Hungarian online business publication hvg.hu
Speaking at a press conference, Demeter said that ruling Fidesz party “crossed a limit” and that the "Sunday stunt" will cost Hungarian taxpayers at least HUF 30 mln (€ 95,000), according to the "most modest calculations."
She said it was misleading to say that the fighters were used to celebrate a state investment and that the flight could be counted into pilots’ training time. The socialist MP requested information from the defence ministry on how much the flight of the Gripens cost.
