Green Valley emerges champion with 38 medals

SRINAGAR, Aug 13: The 2nd Highland Kids Sports Meet organized by J&K Sports Development Association (JKSDA) concluded at Green Valley Educational Institute (GVEI) Elahi Bagh here today.
The three day event in which around 500 kids both boys and girls hailing from different Institutes of City participated, culminated with the concluding function in which medals and trophies were distributed among the winners.
Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad shah was the chief guest on the occasion, while chairman GVEI Muhammad Yousuf, Director Highland Journeys Rauf Ahmad Tramboo, Principal GVEI GN Aali, Team Owner Ghani Gliders Tariq Ghani, SDPO Zadibal Zahid Lone were among other guests present on the occasion.
GVEI bagged the overall trophy with total medal tally of 38 that included 25 gold, six silver and seven bronze. The athletes of the host institute dominated the things from the first. Model High School Jawahar Nagar bagged second place.
Speaking on the occasion, Farooq Shah said that it is better to start training our youth from early so as to bring laurels at highest level.
Director Highlands, Rauf Tramboo said that to organize an exclusive event for kids has been his dream and that turned out reality last year with organizing of its inaugural edition.
The event was organized by JKSDA in collaboration with Highland Journeys and GVEI.
