Burglars kill woman, escape with goods

Kanpur: A 50-year-old woman was murdered by some unidentified miscreants in New Azad Nagar locality under the limits of Chakeri police station on Wednesday.
Her husband, Santosh Verma, a senior faculty at Government Polytechnic in Unnao, informed Chakeri police on Wednesday evening that some unidentified miscreants forcibly barged into the house and after murdering his wife Ram Dulari escaped with valuable belongings.
According to reports, Santosh returned home from Unnao around 6 pm. After repeated knockings at the door failed to evoke any response, he broke open lock of the main door and found Ram Dulari's body in the room. Police suspect the killers used keys to lock the main door while leaving.
The prima-facie evidence indicated that Ram Dulari was probably murdered in the afternoon. The body was lying in the bedroom with scarf tied around her neck, that had serious strangulation marks. “It appears that Ram Dulari was murdered after an altercation as signs of struggle were evident in the room,” said a police official.
The crime however didn’t come to the notice of neighbours, who informed the police that the victim did not have much interaction with them.
“They had seen her last roaming outside her house in the morning hours of Wednesday,” said an investigating officer.
A senior police official said that few labourers, who reportedly were engaged by Verma for painting related work in the house few days ago, have been picked up on suspicion and their interrogation is underway.
Though they had made no clear confession so far, investigations were on. "A team of Forensic experts has been roped in to find the clues related to the murder. Cops are also analysing Ram Dulari's call details to find out the people she was in touch with before the murder," said a senior police official. The body has been dispatched to mortuary for autopsy. The police has registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC.
