Sainik School sought for Telangana

August 14, 2014 01:07 am | Updated 01:07 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Progressive Recognised Teachers Union Telangana (PRTU-T) has requested the Union government to sanction a Sainik School to the Telangana region immediately as both the existing Sainik Schools in the undivided State went to Andhra Pradesh.

The PRTU Telangana delegation led by its president G. Harshvardhan Reddy and Parliament member Jithender Reddy met Union Defence Minister Arun Jaitley and submitted a memorandum seeking sanction of the Sainik School to Telangana and preferably in Mahabubnagar district.

Mr. Harshvardhan Reddy said that Telangana was sanctioned a Sainik School earlier but that was shifted to his native Chittoor district by former Chief Minister, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy. Since students of Telangana now become non-locals in Telangana once they pass out from A.P. schools, Mr. Reddy suggested that the only solution was to start a new Sainik School.
