Oil works with inspirational verses

Dr Rampyari Walia may be a scientist and founder and CEO of a San Diego-based biotech company but her real passion lies in art, she says.
Also a poet and a writer, the multi-talented lady is currently in Mumbai to showcase her recent works in a show titled Expressions of Reflections-II. This is a second solo attempt for the self-taught artist and is a collection of oil paintings, which have been inspired by her feelings and thoughts on a number of different subjects.
Says Rampyari, “Each painting is an expression of deep reflection on things that inspire me or things I feel strongly about. That is why I have titled the show Expressions of Reflections. The uniqueness of work is the versatility you will see and the creativity and imagination that is reflected in each painting even though my subjects and styles are diverse. Each work is accompanied with a line associated with the painting. These verses aren’t a description of the painting but reflect the mindset behind the painting. At times, I paint emotions. For example, the work called ‘Enraptured’, reflects my own love for music and the accompanying verses summarises the mindset behind the painting. My mood strongly influences the composition of the painting. The exhibit also includes a series of five paintings related to Independence Day and the spirit of freedom. The paintings are inspired by the courage of our freedom fighters, who gave up everything for the sake of freedom.”
Using vibrant colours, Rampyari’s works are also very inspirational. “Some paintings from my first exhibit are also put up on display in this show so as to reflect the continuity of my thought process. I want my works to stimulate a positive attitude and inspire courage, determination and appreciation in the mind of the viewer,” she adds.
