Light House Cinema honour Robin Williams by screening 'Aladdin' and 'Good Will Hunting' in aid of suicide prevention charity Pieta House

Robin Williams and Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting

Smithfield's Light House Cinema are honouring Robin Williams by holding screenings of two of his films, the family friendly 'Aladdin' and 'Good Will Hunting'.

Williams voiced the Genie character in animated flick 'Aladdin' whilst he garnered a 'Best Supporting Actor' Oscar for his turn as a deeply empathetic but troubled psychiatrist in 'Good Will Hunting.'

The legendary comedian and actor was found dead at his California home on Monday and it has been confirmed he died by suicide.

The cinema posted a message on Facebook outlining their plans.  It said, "We're deeply saddened about the passing of #RobinWilliams and would like to honour his memory by screening two of his most cherished films; his loveable turn as the Genie in Aladdin and his Oscar-winning performance in Good Will Hunting."

All proceeds from the screenings will be donated to Pieta House, Preventing Suicide and Self Harm, a free, therapeutic approach to people who are in suicidal distress and those who engage in self-harm.

'Aladdin' will screen on August 23 with 'Good Will Hunting' showing on August 24 at Light House Cinema, Market Square, Smithfield, Dublin 1.
