IM plotting to hijack plane to release Yasin Bhatkal?
The intelligence agency sent the warning in a letter to Mumbai International Airport Limited.
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security has asked Mumbai airport on Wednesday to tighten security measures after receiving information that indicate terrorist outfit Indian Mujahideen may be plotting to hijack an aircraft or take a smaller airport hostage to release Yasin Bhatkal, the suspected co-founder of IM.
The intelligence agency sent the warning in a letter to Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL). The letter indicated "inputs received indicative of a heightened threat perception" to the civil aviation sector. The letter has also advised airport authorities to monitor all flights operations.
Taking precaution, the Mumbai airport authorities have stopped the entry of visitors inside the airport till August 20, and have temporarily cancelled the online booking of radio cabs to the airport.
Yasin Bhatkal was arrested in August 2013.
