Constant practice coupled with hard work and dedication will make anyone a dynamic artiste, said E. Gayathri, Vice-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Music and Fine Arts University, Chennai, here on Tuesday.
Music had to be practised constantly to attain perfection, Ms. Gayathri, a renowned Veena exponent, said at the national seminar organised at the Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College here.
Delivering the keynote address at the three-day seminar on “Complementary approach to aspects and applications of music and yoga”, Ms. Gayathri said music and yoga were not separate and were built into each other.
EnchantingA soul-stirring music would be an enchanting experience for the musician as well as to the listeners, she said driving home the power of music. M. Jayanthi, principal, Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College, said music was the universal language of mankind. C. Malarvizhi, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Music, welcomed the gathering.
Sponsored by the UGC, the seminar would feature talks by resource persons on topics such as “music therapy”, “yoga for enhancing music skills”, “music and yoga for mind”, and “music and yoga for brain functioning”.
