Farmers want pending demands to be resolved
NASHIK: Members of a farmers' forum held demonstrations outside the Adivasi Vikas Bhavan here on Monday to raise various demands.
Dindori taluka president of the Jaikisan Farmers Forum Deepak Pawar said that a considerable amount of funds are sanctioned for the development of tribal population, however, the schemes through which the funds are sanctioned do not reach the beneficiaries.

Pawar said that the state government should intervene and address the various demands of the tribal population, which will help their overall development.
The forum is demanding a regular meeting, probably conducted on monthly basis, to address the issue of hostels in the tribal ashram schools. "Benefits from various schemes issued by the forest department should reach the farmers. Also landless, hardworking and malnourished should be helped through these schemes," he added.
Pawar said that health check-up camps should be conducted every month, self employment opportunities for the literate youths, promotion of the self-help groups and transparency in the education system and academic training of adivasi children should be done.
Permanent houses, insurance for students studying in ashram schools, information centres at taluka levels, lessons on disaster management, construction of library, gymnasium and auditorium are the other demands being made by the adivasis.
