CJ recuses himself from KPSC case

Chief Justice of the High Court of Karnataka, DH Waghela has recused himself from the ongoing case about alleged irregularities in the selection process of Group A and B gazetted probationers for the years 1998, 1999 and 2004 conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission. An anonymous letter to the CJ to withdraw from the case is said to be the reason.
The HC had constituted a fact-finding committee comprising advocates of the candidates and KPSC which had submitted its report. The public interest litigation had alleged that KPSC had outsourced moderation of the answer papers to a private company in violation of an earlier HC order. The court had directed fresh moderation of answer papers. Earlier this year, the KPSC had also issued notices to five KPSC officers for not following the directive. KPSC had said it would conduct a personality test for 94 candidates. bmb
