The Supreme Court on Monday issued notices to water resources minister Sanwar Lal Jat and four others in an alleged case of over Rs 600 crore fraud in the execution of five drinking water projects in the state.

JAIPUR: The Supreme Court on Monday issued notices to water resources minister Sanwar Lal Jat and four others in an alleged case of over Rs 600 crore fraud in the execution of five drinking water projects in the state. The case pertains to the period of the first Vasundhara Raje government in which Sanwar Lal Jat was again the water resources minister.
The petition was filed by one Manju Surana, charging irregularities in the tender process and allegations of corruption amounting to the tune of Rs 600 crore in the purchase of pipes and other materials for the project. A bench including Chief Justice RM Lodha and justices Kurien Joseph and R F Nariman made chief minister Vasundhara Raje also a party in the case and issued notices to the minister and four others involved in the execution of the project.
Surana approached the apex court through advocate Prashant Bhushan after her complaints in this regard were dismissed by the ACB court and the high court earlier.
