JODHPUR: ACB has registered a case against the vice chancellor of Jai Narayan Vyas University in relation to the irregularities and violation of the rules pertaining to recruitment of teachers. The ACB has found seven appointments which violate the rules and regulations and have registered cases against the candidates along with members of the scrutiny committee.
"We have registered cases against 17 persons including vice chancellor Bhanwar Singh Rajpurohit, deans and head of the departments, members of scrutiny committee and seven candidates, who had been given appointment in violation of the rules and regulations," said acting DIG (ACB) Narpat Singh Rathore.

It may be mentioned that in 2012 objections had been raised over the recruitment drive conducted by the university. The eligible and aggrieved candidates had constituted a sangharsh samiti to take up the issue and raise their voice at various platforms.
President of the Samiti, Om Prakash Bhati, had given a complaint to the ACB and alleged that not only rules and regulations laid down for the recruitment of teachers were flagrantly flouted in this drive but the university went to the extent of ensuring selection of candidates having relation with politicians, university teachers and the judiciary.
"Professors who have participated as the interview panelists do not fulfill the qualifications prescribed by the UGC. In many cases, degrees earned after the last date of application have also been accepted to extend advantage to the favoured ones. Besides, around 50 to 300 applicants are being interviewed in a single day, which is nothing but a mockery of the recruitment system," said Bhati. According to UGC norms, 8 candidates at the most can be interviewed in a session.
The chief minister Vasundhara Raje, during her visit to Jodhpur before the assembly elections had met the protesters and assured them of scraping the entire recruitment drive and reinitiating it afresh.
