Jangde was among the four MPs of the first Lok Sabha who were felicitated on the 60th anniversary of Lok Sabha in May 2012.

Member of India’s first Lok Sabha Reshamlal Jangde died due to age-related ailments at a local hospital on Monday morning. He was 89.

A law graduate from Nagpur, Jandge was elected to the first Lok Sabha in 1952 on a Congress ticket and later re-elected to the House in 1957. He had also served as a minister in the Madhya Pradesh government.

Jangde was among the four MPs of the first Lok Sabha who were felicitated on the 60th anniversary of Lok Sabha in May 2012. In his last years, however, he lived a stressful life as he and his son often complained that the government neglected them.

Chief Minister Raman Singh and other senior ministers of his Cabinet attended his funeral as he was cremated amid a guard of honour.
