For a while now, Hindi remakes of most Telugu movies have turned out to be big money-spinners, so much so that Bollywood filmmakers are actively on the lookout for hit Telugu films that can be remade.Now, it looks like Bollywood is willing to snap up our filmmakers as well. Recently, a little known Telugu filmmaker Ajay Bhuyan ��� who directed Naga Chaitanya���s Dhada��� made his Bollywood with the rom-com Amit Sahni Ki List which released last month.
He isn���t alone. The likes of Sekhar Kammula, Nandini Reddy, and Krish are all set to follow suit.
Sekhar, who has been contemplating remaking Happy Days in Hindi for quite some time, has got a heads up from Salman Khan himself. Apparently, the film was suggested to Salman by one of his friends and he loved it so much that he has decided to ���present��� the Hindi version. Sekhar, it is learnt has made some minor changes to the script and is in the process of finalising the cast of the film.
���Sekhar Kammula will be directing the Hindi version himself. He wants to cast younger actors in this film as the story revolves around college friends. He���s auditioned a lot of actors for the movie as well and will zero in on the cast soon,��� says a source in the filmmaker���s team.
Nandini Reddy, who made her Telugu debut with the super-hit film Ala Modalaindi, is set to remake the rom-com in Hindi.The film is currently in the script stage and the project is poised to hit the floors towards the end of the year. The filmmaker is customising the script to suit the tastes of the Bollywood audience. ���Producer Damodar Prasad is in talks with a couple of Mumbai-based production houses about remaking the movie,��� informs a source close to Nandini.
After carving a niche for himself as a filmmaker in Tollywood, Krish (Radhakrishna Jagarlamudi), is another director to join an elite group of home grown filmmakers like Puri Jagannadh, RGV for breaking into Bollywood. The Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum director is directing Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar in his maiden venture Gabbar. The action drama,which has Shruti Haasan as the leading lady, is a remake of Tamil film Ramana,which was remade in Telugu as Tagore, starring megastar Chiranjeevi. The film is likely to hit the screens in December.
Never before did as many Telugu filmmakers bag Hindi films in succession. It does look like Bollywood has opened its doors wide open for manafilmmakers.Rana Daggubati avers, ���There is a lot of interest about South Indian films in Bollywood. If you have the talent, where you come from doesn���t matter. It���s an exciting time to be in movie business.���
