Monsoon is perhaps not the best time for your pets to step out; but they still need to exercise and stay fit. Petsville, the newly opened dog training academy and recreation centre in Andheri (E) might be a good idea to give them all the space they need.

Run by two friends — canine behaviourist Rohini Fernandes and dog lover Kruti Deepesh Parikh, Petsville offers a variety of services such as a fully air-conditioned play centre, photography, specialised dog training, indoor party space, veterinary clinic, grooming salon and pet store. “Being fully air-conditioned, it makes us an all-season training facility for pets,” says Parikh.

Agility training
The centre also has a dedicated agility-training centre, where pets are taught to use equipment correctly. “We believe that a tired pet is a happy pet, and agility training helps them to not only stay fit, but also build their energy levels. In fact, all medium-sized pets should go for agility training,” she adds.

Pet owner becomes the trainer
The training method at Petsville involves both the pet owners as well as pets. “The classes have been designed in such a way that a pet owner also becomes his/her pet’s trainer. So, when pet owners are alone with their pets — be it in the park, beach, or a party, they are able to manage them well,” says Parikh.
Multiple training modules
Depending on the age and personality of a dog, Petsville has designed a variety of modules for dogs. So, there’s Puppy Pre-school (for puppies aged one-and-a-half months to three months), Puppy Kindergarten (three to six months), Doggie Graduate Junior (six months to a year), Doggie Graduate Senior (six months onwards), single training sessions are open to all age groups. They also have individual modules such as Doggie Brats (for behaviour modification), Doggie Einstein (imparting different tricks) and Doggie Stars (to prepare them for dog shows).
For prospective pet owners, they provide a pet selection facility to help select the right pet. The training package starts at Rs 3,500 for five sessions.
