Launch: “Learning is the key to success. Continuous learners enjoy the process more than the output. There is a vast scope for learning in the MBA programme,” said Ganesh Kumar Bhat, Senior Manager, South Indian Bank, Mumbai.

He was speaking after launching the 17 batch of MBA programme of Justice K.S. Hegde Institute of Management at Nitte in Udupi district on August 1.

Mr. Bhat said that MBA was a great experience because it involved lot of learning and unlearning. In the process, mistakes were natural. To err was human, but to repeat the same error was a sign of inefficiency, Mr. Kumar said.

N.S. Shetty, Professor Emeritus of the Institute, and K. Sankaran, Institute Director, were present.

Induction: The first batch of 23 students belonging to Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) in Banking and Financial Services joined the T.A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) through a formal induction programme in Manipal recently.

Speaking at the programme, Rajeev Jain, CEO of Bajaj Finserve Ltd., Pune, informed the students on the developments in the banking industry and the recent technological changes in it. Financial institutions were the backbone of the country, he said. He assured the students that they had enough opportunities in the market today.

R.C. Natarajan, Institute Director, welcomed the gathering. Gururaj Kediyoor, Dean (Academics), proposed a vote of thanks. H. Shantharam, member of Institute’s Governing Council, was present.

Fest: The Students’ Forum of the School of Management, Manipal University, organised “Parichay 2014”, the annual collegiate fest for junior students, from July 26 to August 5.

Speaking at the valedictory function, Pramod M. Fernandes, Vice-President, Manipal Technologies Limited, said that students should remain focused throughout their course.

K.V.M. Varambally, Director of the Institute, emphasised on the importance of interaction, participative learning and brand building in showcasing one’s real worth.

Orientation: The SMV Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM) organised an orientation programme for the newly admitted B.E. students on the institute premises at Bantakal in Udupi district on August 3.

Speaking at the inaugural function, Narasimha Bhat, Managing Director and CEO of Manipal Dot Net Pvt. Ltd., said that getting admitted to an engineering institute was only a ticket to reaching the destination of becoming a good engineer, which was a long and arduous process that required a lot of hard work and focus. By the end of the first year of their course, students should be able to master basic engineering skills, irrespective of their branches or specialisations, he said.

R.S. Aithal, Principal of the Institute, Ganesha A., Dean (Academics), Lolita Priya Castelino, Head of the Department of Mathematics, Raviprabha, Student Welfare Officer, and others were present.
