Cong supporters in Sirsa take out candle march seeking justice for Geetika
SIRSA: Local Congress leaders and supporters took out a candlelight march in Sirsa on Friday night seeking justice for Geetika Sharma, employee of former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda, who committed suicide at her residence on August 5, 2012 allegedly after being harassed by her employer.
Participants started the march from Town Park and went to different markets of Sirsa holding banners and posters of Geetika.
The march was led by party member Sunita Setia, spokesman of Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee Hoshiyari Lal Sharma and other party leaders. Speaking about the march, Setia said, "We will seek justice for Geetika and her family. Not only Geetika, even her mother committed suicide as they did not get justice. We want accused Gopal Kanda held accountable for his deeds."
Another Congress leader Urmil Bharadwaj said, "Avantika Maken Tanwar, wife of HPCC president Ashok Tanwar, is also fighting for the Geetika's family. She has taken the fight on the social media."
Geetika had blamed Kanda of harassing her in her suicide note. Kanda was arrested by Delhi police and was granted bail after more than a year. He has formed his own political outfit Haryana Lokhit Party (HLP) and even announced that he will contest in the upcoming Haryana assembly elections from Sirsa.
