HYDERABAD: ACB sleuths registered a trap case against the deputy director of the state education department and arrested a junior assistant from his office on Friday for taking Rs 6,000 as bribe from the complainant to correct a name on an SSC certificate. The accused are deputy director of planning, N Buchanna, and junior assistant, T Shankar, posted at the office of the director of school education at Saifabad.

Acting on a complaint lodged by P Siva Ramakrishna from Bodhan in Nizamabad, ACB sleuths laid a trap at the office of the accused and caught Shankar red handed when he accepted Rs 6,000 as bribe based on Buchanna’s direction. According to ACB sleuths, based on Buchanna’s directions, Shankar demanded the bribe from Ramakrishna to correct the name of his son Paruchuri Sai Kiran in the SSC certificate.
“Based on Buchanna’s directions over phone, the co-accused Shankar has collected the bribe amount at his office from the complainant. Buchanna’s private assistant Krishna is a witness,” ACB DSP N Sanjeev Rao said. Buchanna is absconding and ACB sleuths have launched to manhunt to nab him.
