Association of Builders and Developers Chairman Mohsin Sheikhani has said that the companies associated with the building industry in Singapore, UAE, Turkey, Thailand, Indonesia and Germany will be taking part in the upcoming three-day exhibition at the Karachi Expo Centre.
With their participation in the expo, foreign companies will be given a chance to invest in the sector, which will also help in revamping the industry as well as identifying the hurdles in the way of its progress.
“In the next four months, 100 new construction projects will be introduced in Karachi, of which 11 major ones will commence outside the city,” said Sheikhani. “Recently, representatives of our construction sector and the World Bank met, who discussed the problems faced by them, especially those related to financing.”
Talking about the exhibition, Senior Vice Chairmen Saleem Qasim Patel and Hanif Gohar and Regional Chairman Haris Mithani said the expo would continue from August 12 to 14 during which ABAD will be assisted by the federal and provincial bodies as well.
Many financial institutions have also expressed interest in putting up their stalls in the exhibition.
They said the construction industry’s progress could speed up the pace of economic growth in the country and help support and develop the other 100 allied industries.
Increase in construction activities would create many employment opportunities and the industry would be able to cope with the growing population by providing them with cheap housing facilities.
Ten senior developers from Singapore’s construction sector are taking part in the exhibition, taking the number of companies to 50. Local companies associated with the sector will also be there.
